About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site for 12 weeks at one of our locations in Ashville, Ohio, Costa Mesa, California, Irvine, California, Quonset, Rhode Island, or Santa Ana, California. This role requires you to be a U.S. Person, and you may need to be eligible for a U.S. security clearance.
What you'll do#
- Manage a portion of the production quality support process for specific products.
- Analyze data and mine it to find trends or patterns in product quality.
- Create and maintain KPIs and OKR metrics to track quality and drive improvements through cross-functional teams.
- Lead a project that transforms a specific element of the quality engineering team, such as a new inspection method or data analytic process.
- Support our quality management system and handle documentation changes.
- Write essential documentation for hardware at scale, including work instructions, quality plans, and inspection requirements.
- Work hands-on with technicians and engineers to build and measure prototype hardware.
- Potentially travel to suppliers to assist with initial sourcing, resolve production issues, and implement quality procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry.
- You must be returning to school for at least one quarter or semester after the internship concludes.
- Experience in a relevant field, such as manufacturing, supply chain, or electromechanical hardware design.
- Ability to solve problems related to electromechanical hardware in resource-constrained environments.
- Demonstrated team leadership skills.
- Experience with inspection systems, numeric methods, data analysis, or software packages like MatLab.
- Software scripting experience in any language.
- Familiarity with R/C vehicles, autonomous flight vehicles, or flight controllers is a plus.
