About the role#
Anduril Industries is hiring Flight Software Engineer Interns for the summer of 2027. This 12-week program is based in Costa Mesa, California. You will join one of three departments: Flight Software, Guidance, Navigation and Control, or Modeling, Simulation and Analysis. You will work alongside engineers to build and test autonomous systems for UAS and missile technology.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the design and development of flight software algorithms, GNC systems, or simulation models.
- Participate in the integration and testing of software and hardware components in lab, ground, or flight tests.
- Analyze data collected from simulations and flight test events to inform system improvements.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address engineering challenges and enhance system performance.
- Engage in creative problem-solving to advance UAS and missile technologies.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Must be returning to school at the end of the internship to continue academic studies for at least one quarter or semester.
- Ability to complete an in-person 12-week internship in summer 2027.
- Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
- Strong foundation in software development, control theory, or analytical modeling.
- Hands-on experience with Design-Build-Fly teams, robotics competition teams, or collegiate rocketry groups.
- Experience with high-power rocketry, remotely piloted or semi-autonomous aircraft, or software integration on target hardware.
- Proficiency with open-source autopilot software suites like ArduPilot or PX4.
- Experience integrating flight hardware components such as servos, actuators, IMUs, magnetometers, GNSS receivers, and serial communication protocols.
- Familiarity with electrical test equipment and post-flight data analysis using Python or MATLAB.
