About the role#
As an EWIS Harness Engineer Co-op, you will own the end-to-end electrical wiring and interconnect systems for our hardware. You will manage projects at various stages, from initial design and trade studies to fabrication and integration. This role requires working directly with harness manufacturers to deliver high-quality, reliable products while balancing technical requirements like power distribution, signal integrity, and EMI/EMC compliance.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, and integrate harness systems to meet specific technical requirements.
- Select and procure components including connectors, back-shells, contacts, wire, and shielding.
- Generate harness system block diagrams and wire diagrams for production.
- Prepare harness assembly instructions and test procedures.
- Perform trade studies regarding wire gauge, connector selection, and topology.
- Analyze and mitigate electrical risks such as voltage drop, crosstalk, and thermal effects.
- Participate in design reviews to identify issues and drive design choices.
- Provide guidance to the electrical team on system requirements and SWaP constraints.
- Support new developments, active deployments, and customer-operated hardware.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Must be a U.S. Person.
- Ability to complete an in-person 16-24 week internship in winter 2027.
- Must be returning to school after the internship to continue academic studies.
- Experience or proficiency in 3D CAD wire harness routing using Siemens NX.
- Ability to read and generate formboard drawings in 2D CAD using Siemens Capital.
- Familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces like CAN, Ethernet, RS422, RS232, and 1553.
- Experience reading wire block interconnect diagrams.
- Familiarity with EMI/EMC principles and MIL-STD requirements.
- Understanding of aircraft avionics module vendors and component suppliers.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- U.S. clearance eligibility may be required depending on the program.
