About the role#
The Michael McConnell Peace with Justice Fellow will support local Chicago Peacebuilding programs. This entry-level fellowship focuses on youth participation and city-wide campaigns centered on divestment from policing and incarceration. The fellow will work closely with the Chicago Peacebuilding Program Director and receive training to support their professional development. This is a part-time position requiring 21 hours per week.
What you'll do#
- Support ongoing program work and administrative tasks for local and national projects.
- Create educational resources for youth, specifically developing anti-militaristic curriculum for high school students.
- Attend weekly coalition and bi-weekly program meetings, serving as the timekeeper and notetaker.
- Develop and publish the Chicago Peacebuilding Newsletter.
- Execute strategy and content for Chicago Peacebuilding social media channels.
- Assist with fundraising activities, including managing t-shirt sales and shipments.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent required (Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Sociology, Human Resources, or Communications preferred).
- Minimum of one year of experience in community organizing, social justice campaigns, or youth leadership programs.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Ability to travel for work requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with a diverse staff.
- Respect for Quaker values and testimonies, including a commitment to non-violence and the intrinsic worth of every individual.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office technology.

- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site (in office 2 to 3 days per week).
- Term: Summer 2026 start date, one-year fellowship duration.
- This is a paid, part-time position.
