About the role#
The Michael McConnell Peace with Justice Fellow supports local programs and city-wide campaigns focused on divesting from policing and incarceration. This is a part-time, one-year fellowship based in Chicago. You will work closely with the Chicago Peacebuilding Program Director to promote community-based resources and safety. Training is provided to help you succeed in this entry-level role.
What you'll do#
- Support ongoing local program work and administrative projects.
- Create anti-militaristic educational curriculum for high school students.
- Attend weekly coalition meetings as the timekeeper and notetaker.
- Develop and publish the Chicago Peacebuilding Newsletter.
- Execute strategy and content for Chicago Peacebuilding social media channels.
- Assist with fundraising efforts, including t-shirt sales and shipping.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in community organizing, social justice campaigns, or youth leadership.
- Ability to work evenings or weekends and travel when necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and work with diverse staff.
- Respect for Quaker values and testimonies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related technology.
Location & details#
- Location: Chicago, Illinois.
- Work Modality: On-site (in office 2 to 3 days per week).
- Term: Summer 2026.
- Status: Part-time, 21 hours per week.
