About the role#
The Fall 2026 Spaceflight Hardware Intern will join the Project Management and Systems Engineering Division at NASA Johnson Space Center. This temporary, full-time position supports critical space exploration initiatives including the Artemis program, lunar architecture studies, and Mars mission planning. The internship is an on-site role with a maximum duration of 15 weeks.
What you'll do#
- Support lunar surface campaign modeling and analysis efforts.
- Develop early life cycle systems engineering products, including concepts of operations and feasibility analyses.
- Conduct engineering analysis to determine the feasibility of proposed mission concepts.
- Assist in the development of engineering analysis tools for evaluating mission design concepts.
- Participate in the development of concept mission designs for future human spaceflight missions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at an accredited university in an engineering or engineering technology degree program, specifically pursuing majors in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or Electrical Engineering.
- Completion of at least 45 credit hours.
- Minimum 2.8 GPA.
- Strong self-motivation, adaptability, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
