About the role#
This is a temporary DoD SkillBridge internship opportunity for transitioning service members to gain experience in systems engineering and cybersecurity within the Gateway program. Fellows will work on-site at NASA in Houston, supporting human spaceflight missions. This role is a non-compensated fellowship, as participants continue to receive their military pay and benefits.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with NASA engineers, contractors, and internal technical teams across multiple disciplines.
- Assist management with the planning, coordination, and assignment of work tasks.
- Support concept development and early architecture definition for human spaceflight systems.
- Perform system-level trade studies and risk assessments.
- Maintain professional relationships with NASA customers and partner organizations.
What you'll need#
- Served at least 180 days in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces.
- Must have taken service TAPS/TGPS.
- Must have command approval to participate in the DoD SkillBridge program.
- Must be on track to receive an Honorable Discharge.
- Must have attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months.
- Ability to pass a U.S. government background investigation.
