About the role#
Alleghany Highlands Community Services is seeking an intern to gain practical experience in a human resources department. You will work directly with our team to support the employee lifecycle within a community-based behavioral healthcare organization. This is a paid position that provides exposure to daily HR operations.
What you'll do#
- Assist with recruitment tasks, such as coordinating interviews and communicating with candidates.
- Support the onboarding process for new employees.
- Maintain employee records, personnel files, and other HR documentation.
- Help prepare HR forms, communications, and resources for staff.
- Support training, professional development, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Assist with HR compliance activities and process-improvement projects.
- Handle sensitive organizational and employee information with strict confidentiality.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a college or university program studying Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, Psychology, or a related field.
- A strong interest in gaining hands-on HR experience.
- Ability to stay organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
- Professional communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn new systems.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and take initiative.
- A commitment to maintaining high levels of discretion when handling sensitive information.
