About the role#
The NextStay Fellowship is a program designed to support transitioning service members as they move into the technology industry. As a Fellow in Tech Ops & Programs, you will work as a hands-on Technical Program Manager (TPM) within the engineering organization. This role provides a foundation in program management, with support from experienced TPMs and engineering partners as you grow into the scope of the position. You will own the execution of technical programs that span multiple engineering, product, and operations teams over several quarters.
What you'll do#
- Lead the execution of projects with defined scopes and approaches, turning direction into concrete, realistic plans.
- Break work into trackable pieces and use metrics to monitor progress and surface potential delays.
- Lead team alignment and hold contributors accountable to project deliverables and milestones.
- Consult with team members to identify risks and mitigation options, tracking them through to resolution.
- Communicate project vision and success criteria to stakeholders while managing scope, schedule, and quality trade-offs.
- Ask questions to surface technical gaps and work collaboratively with engineers to evaluate solutions.
- Participate in cultural and functional excellence activities, such as mentorship, diversity programming, or hackathons.
What you'll need#
- Active-duty service member currently enrolled in the USSOCOM Warrior Care Program, Career Transition Internship, or a similar program.
- Ability to begin the fellowship by November 2026 and complete at least 120 days of the program before military transition.
- Within 180 days of military transition at the time the fellowship starts.
- Written approval from your chain of command authorizing participation.
- Typically 2 years of relevant experience.
- BS or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
