About the role#
Aerodyne Industries LLC is seeking a Performance Engineering Intern to join the COSMOS team. This role supports the non-functional requirements for ground systems within the Mission Control Center Systems, Training Systems, and the Space Vehicle Mockup Facility. You will work alongside systems engineers, software engineers, and NASA customers to measure and evaluate system performance. There is a possibility to support human spaceflight during critical mission phases such as launch, rendezvous, and landing.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with engineers to understand and define system requirements.
- Analyze system performance through diagnostic work and deep dive investigations.
- Assist with software acceptance review package analysis.
- Develop and maintain automation tools and scripts to improve system performance capabilities.
- Collect raw resource utilization data from networks, servers, and workstations.
- Handle incident reports and update team documentation.
- Refactor code and implement version control practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, MIS, Math, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Python, C+, Linux, and Windows environments.
- Familiarity with the software development life cycle and scripting or automation.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
- Experience with data structures, data mining, and data management is preferred.
- Familiarity with tools such as Power BI, Docker, Pod, Service Now, SolarWinds, Big Fix, or Splunk is a plus.
- Ability to obtain a NASA Personal Identity Verification (PIV) badge.

- Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including potential second or third shifts, nights, and weekends for mission operations training.
