About the role#
As a Member of Technical Staff Intern, you will join the core technical team at Aemon. You will work directly with the founders to build autonomous AI research engineers. These systems aim to take technical objectives, generate hypotheses, run experiments, and discover breakthroughs. This is a full-time, four-month internship designed to give you time to take ownership of core systems and evaluate the team and culture.
What you'll do#
Depending on your specific strengths, you will contribute to the following areas:
- Develop long-horizon AI agents.
- Work on post-training and reinforcement learning.
- Build systems for hypothesis generation and search.
- Improve codebase understanding.
- Design experiment orchestration and research infrastructure for large-scale testing.
- Create benchmarks and evaluation designs.
- Develop product surfaces for interacting with autonomous research systems.
What you'll need#
- Exceptional skills in computer science, mathematics, or systems thinking.
- Experience building serious projects outside of class.
- Ability to learn unfamiliar technical areas quickly.
- Interest in working on ambiguous, open-ended problems.
- A focus on elegant solutions.
- Comfort moving from a research idea to code, experiments, and analysis.
- A track record of original technical contributions through publications, open-source, or other impactful work is preferred.

- This role is based on-site in San Francisco, California.
- The internship is full-time for a four-month duration.
