About the role#
The Social Work Intern assists with direct support for clients at the emergency shelter. You will work under supervision to provide case management, help with daily client needs, and research resources for families and individuals. This role reports to the Director of Client Services.
What you'll do#
- Write bio-psycho-social histories through family interviews and chart reviews.
- Work with the Case Manager to prioritize client needs and identify resources for Individual Service Plans.
- Provide direct support at the shelter, including intakes and shift coverage.
- Attend staff meetings and case review sessions.
- Participate in professional development training.
- Assist with additional projects as assigned by the Director of Client Services or Case Manager.
What you'll need#
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a 2-year or 4-year accredited social work program.
- A valid Ohio driver’s license and dependable transportation.
- Basic knowledge of the challenges facing the homeless population.
- Strong communication, problem solving, and computer skills.
- The ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds.
