About the role#
ACCESS, Inc. is looking for a Social Media Intern to assist with the daily operations of our organization. This is a hands-on role for anyone interested in nonprofit marketing and communications. You will gain exposure to the inner workings of a mission-driven organization while receiving mentorship from our professionals.
What you'll do#
- Create and publish engaging short-form video content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
- Film, edit, and post at least one reel or short-form video each week.
- Promote our shelter programs, community events, and other initiatives across our social platforms.
- Write social media copy and assist with graphic design tasks as needed.
- Capture photos of residents and programming to support our digital storytelling.
- Monitor social media activity and audience engagement to identify new content opportunities.
- Maintain a consistent brand voice across all channels.
- Support daily administrative tasks and organizational operations.
- Stay updated on social media trends and platform features.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in or have completed some college coursework in communications, journalism, digital media, marketing, broadcasting, public relations, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Canva and short-form video editing tools.
- Familiarity with TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
- Ability to write clear, concise, and engaging copy.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfort using Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- A passion for social impact and nonprofit work.
- Basic data analysis skills and prior nonprofit experience are preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Akron, Ohio.
- This is an on-site, unpaid internship.
- Availability required during standard business hours (8:00am to 5:00pm).
- Commitment of 15 to 20 hours per week.
