About the role#
The Esports Production Support position offers students hands-on experience in live esports broadcast production. You will work on-site and report to the Esports Director to support ArtU Esports streams. This role focuses on learning key production areas including producing, game observation, stream operation, and broadcast setup. You will build technical skills while collaborating with broadcast talent and program staff.
What you'll do#
- Assist with planning and producing social media content.
- Develop esports content ideas, recurring segments, player features, and other short-form content.
- Support the technical setup and recording of interviews and gameplay content.
- Collaborate with broadcast talent and the video editor or photographer to take content from concept through delivery.
- Learn esports broadcast fundamentals through hands-on experience during streams and events.
- Assist with live broadcast areas including production, game observation, and stream operation.
- Use OBS and other broadcast tools to manage scenes, overlays, audio, graphics, and stream monitoring.
- Practice game observation by identifying and capturing important moments during live gameplay.
- Help with pre-stream preparation, such as checking game feeds, audio, graphics, and capture devices.
- Support the producer and broadcast team with transitions and graphics during live productions.
- Learn basic troubleshooting for common streaming, audio, and capture issues.
- Participate in production rehearsals and receive feedback.
- Assist with Twitch broadcasts and archived stream content as needed.
What you'll need#
- Interest in esports broadcasting, livestreaming, content creation, or live production.
- Interest in learning roles such as producer, game observer, or broadcast operator.
- Familiarity with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Twitch, or similar platforms.
- Willingness to learn new production software, equipment, and workflows.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with students and staff.
- Ability to stay focused and organized during live events.
- Receptive to instruction, feedback, and continued learning.
- Reliable and able to attend scheduled broadcasts, including some evenings or weekends.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and team-based environments.
- Interest in games and esports.
Location & details#
- Location: San Francisco, California.
- Pay: $19.61 per hour.
- Schedule: Up to 20 hours per week.
- Term: Rolling, from your starting term through graduation.
- Modality: On-site.
