About the role#
The Finance Intern at WVU Medicine supports the daily operations of our finance team. This position provides practical experience in healthcare finance, accounting, and budgeting. You will work on-site at Grant Memorial Hospital during the Summer 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Assist with financial data analysis and reporting.
- Help the team maintain accurate financial records and documentation.
- Research industry best practices and financial trends.
- Prepare financial statements, budget forecasts, and variance analyses.
- Support financial audits by gathering documentation and assisting auditors.
- Participate in meetings and training sessions.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives.
- Complete ad-hoc tasks and projects as assigned by the Finance Manager.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Capacity to maintain high standards of confidentiality.
- Ability to operate standard office equipment and software.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
- Ability to project a professional image.
