About the role#
Wurl is looking for an intern to support our Data Science and Machine Learning team. This is a year long internship. You will work with our datasets to help us analyze and normalize the data generated within our video and ad delivery ecosystem.
What you'll do#
- Perform analysis to find anomalies and identify their root causes.
- Create and implement validations to programmatically detect these anomalies.
- Propose methods to normalize data, then implement and test them for accuracy.
- Iterate on normalization processes to reach required accuracy levels.
- Improve the quality of our derived datasets and data products.
What you'll need#
- PhD or MSc preferred. We also accept BSc candidates with a high GPA, multiple majors, or notable projects.
- Field of study in Data Science, AI/ML, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
- Strong skills in Python and SQL.
- Experience with large-scale data analysis, graph algorithms, and network analysis.
- Knowledge of applied statistics, probability, and machine learning fundamentals.
- Experience with data quality, anomaly detection, experiment design, and causal reasoning.
- Familiarity with distributed data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable analytical code.
- Non-agentic development experience is mandatory, alongside experience with agentic or AI-assisted software development.
- Modeling or research experience, including moving from a research idea to a validated prototype.
- Strong quantitative reasoning and the ability to translate ambiguous problems into mathematical formulations.
- Comfort working with messy, incomplete, or contradictory data and the ability to recognize when results look wrong.
- High intellectual curiosity, strong ownership, and the ability to challenge assumptions.

- This is a fully remote, paid position.
