Adult Education Intern

About the role#

World Relief Upstate SC is seeking an Adult Education Intern to support refugees and immigrants in their journey toward economic self-sufficiency. This internship provides hands-on experience in adult education and refugee resettlement services. You will work within the Economic Empowerment team to provide holistic educational support, including English language learning, digital literacy, and workforce readiness training.

What you'll do#

• Assist the Adult Education Specialist with lesson preparation, instructional materials, and classroom setup.
• Support clients during English language learning, digital literacy, and workforce readiness sessions.
• Facilitate Café English conversational practice sessions and provide support to ESL tutoring volunteers.
• Maintain accurate client records, files, and perform data entry in program systems.
• Prepare materials and manage logistics for workshops, classes, orientations, and trainings.
• Coordinate schedules, appointments, and communications with clients.
• Track client attendance, participation, and progress toward learning goals.
• Connect clients to community resources that support continued education and self-sufficiency.
• Perform general administrative duties to support program operations.

What you'll need#

• Commitment to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief.
• Strong cross-cultural competency and sensitivity to the experiences of refugees and immigrants.
• Clear verbal and written communication skills, with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to learn new databases and case management systems.
• Eagerness to learn and contribute in a multicultural environment.
• Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean driving record.
• Coursework or experience in adult education, ESL instruction, or English language training is preferred.
• Fluency in English is required; proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, Ukrainian, Swahili, Rohingya, or Arabic is preferred.

• Location: Greenville, South Carolina.
• Term: Summer 2026 (ending August 28, 2026).
• Commitment: Full-time (30 hours per week).
• Modality: On-site.
• Compensation: This is an unpaid internship.
• Relevant majors: Communications, Psychology, Political Science, Human Resources, and Sociology.
