About the role#
Westmoreland Mining LLC is hiring an Engineering Co-op Student for the Winter 2027 term. This is a full-time, paid position based on-site at the Estevan Mine. You will work alongside senior engineers to support mine planning, data analysis, and field operations.
What you'll do#
- Calculate and distribute daily reports on production metrics such as dragline volumes and stockpiles.
- Perform data entry, analysis, and quality control across various datasets.
- Support drone flight operations to capture aerial imagery and survey data.
- Analyze drone data to assist with infrastructure development, reclamation, and dragline design.
- Create and update AutoCAD maps and engineering plans to reflect site conditions.
- Assist with environmental sampling, including water quality checks and piezometer readings.
- Conduct mine planning and pit audits across the site.
- Use Trimble equipment to collect field points and stake locations for infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate on 3D leveling, modeling, and topsoil planning initiatives.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a civil, geological, or mining engineering program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

- This role is located at the Estevan Mine in Saskatchewan, Canada.
- The work is primarily office-based with some field work required depending on operational needs.
- You are responsible for your own transportation and accommodations.
