About the role#
This is a hands-on, 10 to 12 week internship focused on grain and feed facility operations. You will gain exposure to bulk grain handling and feed manufacturing, with the potential to focus on one track based on your interests and site needs. This program serves as a pipeline into our Leadership Development Trainee program and future career paths including elevator management, operations, and maintenance.
What you'll do#
- Participate in daily facility operations such as receiving, storing, transferring, and loading out commodities.
- Learn safety programs and take part in inspections and meetings.
- Shadow maintenance activities with skilled trades and site leadership.
- Gain exposure to grain grading, blending, and quality management.
- Learn merchandising fundamentals, including bids, contracts, and position management.
- Support facility reporting and understand how operational decisions impact the business.
- Complete an internship project and a final presentation.
- For feed manufacturing tracks, learn about receiving, batching, load-out, feed formulation, and quality control.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a 2-year or 4-year degree in Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business, Operations Management, or a related field.
- No prior full-time work experience is required.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A self-directed and organized approach to work.
- Ability to adjust to shifting schedules and multiple demands.
- A strong safety mindset.
- A genuine interest in a long-term career in the grain and feed industry.
- Ability to travel overnight for training or site visits as needed.
- Physical ability to climb ladders, work at heights over 100 feet, and lift up to 100 pounds with assistance.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time, on-site role with a pay range of $18.00 to $22.00 per hour.
- Locations include Goshen, CA; Dalhart, TX; Caruthersville, MO; Lake Providence, LA; Osceola, AR; Shawneetown, IL; and Savanna, IL.
- You will frequently work in outdoor weather conditions and may be exposed to dust, chemicals, or work over water depending on the specific site.
