About the role#
West Texas Rehabilitation Center is seeking a 4th Year Audiology Extern to join our team in Abilene. You will work under the supervision of licensed audiologists to gain clinical experience in a supportive environment. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with professionals across physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as orthotics and prosthetics. You will work with patients from a 200-mile service area.
What you'll do#
- Perform and assist with diagnostic hearing evaluations.
- Gain experience with OAE, ABR, and APD testing.
- Participate in hearing aid fitting, orientation, counseling, and ongoing services.
- Gain experience with tinnitus evaluation and management.
- Participate in cochlear implant mapping and programming.
- Provide patient education and counseling related to hearing and communication needs.
- Work with patients across the lifespan, from infants through elderly adults.
- Collaborate with other rehabilitation professionals to provide comprehensive care.

- Active enrollment in a post-graduate Audiology program.
