About the role#
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will work on real-world projects focused on application modernization, user experience, and process improvement. You will gain hands-on exposure to the health insurance industry while working alongside subject matter experts and team leaders. This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support the conversion and modernization of existing SOAP and REST APIs.
- Identify and implement enhancements to improve existing user interfaces.
- Design, build, and test new features within existing interfaces based on business needs.
- Evaluate existing application components and update them to improve maintainability and functionality.
- Design and develop a new tool to support data comparison or mapping.
- Learn the medical product configuration process.
- Improve or streamline supporting tools, workflows, and processes.
What you'll need#
- Current junior or senior pursuing a bachelor's degree, or a current master's student.
- Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related technical field.
- Foundational knowledge of TypeScript, REST API, AWS native, API enabling technology, Node, and the software development life cycle.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Ability to troubleshoot and develop creative technical solutions.
- Demonstrated skills with software development tools, preferably Visual Studio.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products including Word, Access, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Prior office or internship experience is preferred.
