Graduate Pharmacy Intern

About the role#

The Graduate Pharmacy Intern role at Weis Markets is an on-site, full-time position designed for students currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program. Interns will gain practical experience by supporting daily pharmacy operations, shadowing management, and working under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. This role requires travel between store locations across Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia.

What you'll do#

• Provide customer service by greeting patients and resolving issues professionally.
• Execute technician-level tasks, including data entry, prescription processing, and managing pharmacy inventory.
• Participate in patient counseling, clinical services like immunizations, and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) under pharmacist supervision.
• Support wellness initiatives, including medication synchronization and patient outreach.
• Process third-party claims and resolve insurance-related issues.
• Perform initial drug utilization reviews and escalate potential contraindications to the supervising pharmacist.
• Maintain a clean, organized work environment and complete the New Pharmacist Training checklist.
• Shadow pharmacy management to learn leadership responsibilities and participate in professional development sessions.
