About the role#
Weis Markets is seeking a Graduate Pharmacy Intern to support pharmacy operations and patient care initiatives. This is a paid, full-time, on-site position. Interns will work across various locations in Maryland, Delaware, and West Virginia. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting while working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Provide customer service by greeting patients, resolving issues, and supporting daily pharmacy operations.
- Perform technician-level tasks such as data entry, prescription processing, and inventory management.
- Participate in patient counseling, clinical services like immunizations, and Medication Therapy Management (MTM) under direct pharmacist supervision.
- Process third-party claims and assist with insurance-related issues.
- Maintain accurate patient and prescription records in the pharmacy computer system.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, receiving, stocking, and removing expired medications.
- Shadow the Pharmacy Manager to learn leadership and management responsibilities.
- Travel to assigned store locations and attend scheduled events such as flu clinics.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Doctor of Pharmacy program.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- A basic understanding of pharmacy operations and procedures.
