About the role#
Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is seeking graduate-level interns for our Waltham Community Based Services site. This role involves providing in-home and community-based services to protect, preserve, and reunify families. Interns work within a team-oriented environment and receive support from clinical staff while functioning with autonomy in the community. We offer openings for the Fall 2026 and Winter 2027 terms. This is a paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Provide individual, couples, and family therapy.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop treatment goals.
- Handle case management, advocacy, and concrete services.
- Provide transportation to appointments and assist clients with referrals and accessing services.
- Participate in agency-wide initiatives including Motivational Interviewing, ARC, and Courageous Conversations.
- Co-facilitate activity-based groups for youth through the Department of Mental Health.
- Carry one or two outpatient cases if you are a final-year intern.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate program, preferably in your final year.
- Strong first-year students with relevant experience will be considered.
- Academic or clinical exposure to family work is recommended.
- A valid driver license and a reliable car.
- Written permission from your school to transport clients.
- Ability to work at least three days per week, including Tuesdays.
- Availability for evening appointments at least two nights per week.
- A flexible approach to work.
Location & details#
- Location: Waltham, Massachusetts.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Commitment: Minimum of 24 hours per week for final-year interns or 20 hours per week for first-year interns.
