Structural Engineer Internship

About the role#

As a Structural Engineering Intern at Walker Consultants, you will contribute to the design of large-scale structures, including resort, casino, and airport parking facilities. You will work within a multi-disciplinary team of architects, engineers, and planners, reporting to a Project Manager or Director of Design. This role involves balancing structural design with materials science to address long spans, durability, and aesthetics.

What you'll do#

• Collaborate with Project Architects and Engineers to develop project designs and drawings.
• Prepare and revise documentation across various phases, including floor plans, building elevations, sections, and details.
• Use Revit to develop 3D building models for design, coordination, and documentation.
• Perform structural design calculations and detailing for superstructures, foundations, and soil-retention systems.
• Interpret and apply building codes and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in project coordination, attend team meetings, and review construction documentation, submittals, and shop drawings.
• Participate in fieldwork and site visits as opportunities arise.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology.
• 0-5 years of previous structural design experience.
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills for interacting with clients, consultants, and team members.
• Reliable access to a personal vehicle.
• Proficiency in Revit is preferred; experience with AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite, and Microsoft Project is a plus.
