About the role#
This position is for a Pharmacy Intern Grad working on-site in Atascadero, California. You will support pharmacy operations while gaining clinical experience in a retail setting. The role involves a mix of patient consultation, medication management, and operational tasks to ensure the pharmacy runs effectively.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager in optimizing financials, inventory management, and pharmacy workflow.
- Engage with customers to resolve issues and model service best practices.
- Counsel patients on side effects, contraindications, and over-the-counter products.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems including Intercom Plus, registers, automation, and StoreNET.
- Process insurance claims and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations and diabetes awareness programs.
- Assist with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before the start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
