About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern Grad, you will support pharmacy operations while gaining experience in clinical and retail services. You will work under the guidance of the Pharmacy Manager to ensure safe medication practices and high-quality customer care. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Iowa City.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services, including medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Handle compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Support pharmacy workflow, inventory management, and financial optimization.
- Perform clinical and wellness services such as immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness.
- Counsel patients on side effects, contraindications, and over-the-counter products.
- Process insurance claims and coordinate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Assist the Pharmacy Manager with staff training, coaching, and performance management.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems including Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
