About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support pharmacy operations while gaining clinical and retail experience. You will work directly with customers and healthcare providers to ensure the safe and effective use of medications. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Urbandale, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Provide clinical services including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness sessions.
- Consult with customers on medication usage, drug interactions, and side effects.
- Handle compounding, verification, and dispensing of prescriptions while following regulatory guidelines.
- Support pharmacy workflow, inventory management, and financial performance.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
- Maintain pharmacy systems such as Intercom Plus and StoreNET.
- Build relationships with the local medical community and participate in outreach activities.
- Resolve customer issues and share best practices to improve the patient experience.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution before your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Current status as a Certified Immunizer or the willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
