About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. This role focuses on learning pharmacy operations, assisting with patient care, and delivering customer service in accordance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with daily operations, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Use pharmacy systems to manage patient and drug information.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Support patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Manage inventory tasks, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle cash register transactions and manage telephone inquiries.
- Maintain the Pharmacy Department's appearance and ensure it remains clean and organized.
- Report prescription errors immediately and follow all safety and quality improvement protocols.
- Complete required training and stay informed on pharmacy policy and industry developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
