About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient care, and prescription processing while learning to follow state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions by entering data, handling third-party billing, and assisting with filling and dispensing.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and helping resolve issues.
- Support patient care services, including medication therapy management, blood pressure checks, and patient counseling.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, which includes ordering, unpacking, and organizing shipments.
- Handle pharmacy telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist's direct attention.
- Operate the cash register for pharmacy sales.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Complete all required training and stay updated on pharmacy practices.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
