About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will assist the pharmacy team in providing patient care under the supervision of a pharmacist. You will gain hands-on experience in pharmacy operations while adhering to state and federal regulations. This role focuses on learning pharmacy procedures, building customer relationships, and supporting the daily functions of the pharmacy department.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Help pharmacists deliver patient care services, including medication therapy management and patient counseling.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require pharmacist attention.
- Register sales at the cash register and maintain a clean, organized department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete required training and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
