About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient care, and inventory management while learning to provide a positive customer experience. This position is designed to help you develop the skills necessary to perform as a future pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team members in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to process prescriptions and obtain patient or drug information.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Perform tasks related to entering, filling, and dispensing prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Support patient care services such as medication therapy management and blood pressure screenings.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's direct attention.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department by keeping it clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Register sales at the cash register and follow company asset protection techniques.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete all required training and maintain knowledge of pharmacy policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
