About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist the pharmacy team in daily operations, support patient care, and learn to navigate pharmacy systems while adhering to state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with prescription processing, including entering, filling, and dispensing medications.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Use pharmacy systems to retrieve patient information and process prescriptions.
- Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the direct attention of the pharmacist.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Register sales on the cash register and handle cash transactions.
- Complete all required training and stay updated on pharmacy policies and procedures.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
