About the role#
This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacy Intern position based in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. You will work within a retail pharmacy setting to support daily operations, patient care, and clinical services. This role involves a mix of direct patient interaction, medication management, and administrative support for the pharmacy team.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication use, side effects, and potential interactions.
- Manage the compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager in optimizing pharmacy financials, inventory management, and overall customer experience.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues in a timely manner.
- Perform clinical and wellness services including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness screenings.
- Ensure the accurate processing of insurance claims and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Maintain current knowledge of pharmacy information technology and systems.
- Support the pharmacy manager with staff training and the development of local medical community relationships.
What you'll need#
- A willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Current certification as an immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
