About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the daily operations of our pharmacy while gaining hands-on experience in clinical and retail services. You will work under the guidance of the pharmacy manager to ensure our pharmacy runs efficiently and provides high-quality care to our patients. This role is part-time and based on-site in Canal Winchester, Ohio.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, potential side effects, and drug interactions.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist with retail, clinical, and wellness services, including administering immunizations and flu shots.
- Help the pharmacy manager optimize pharmacy financials and manage inventory.
- Support efficient pharmacy workflow, including opening and closing duties.
- Counsel patients on over-the-counter products and refer them to medical providers when necessary.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems such as Intercom Plus, registers, and StoreNET.
- Process insurance claims accurately to resolve customer issues.
- Engage with the local medical community to build professional relationships.
- Assist with staff training and hiring processes.
What you'll need#
- A commitment to obtaining a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of your start date.
- Current certification as an immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
- A strong interest in pharmacy and healthcare practices.
