About the role#
This is a full-time Pharmacy Intern position based in Germantown, Tennessee. You will work on-site to support pharmacy operations, patient care, and clinical services. This role is paid and focuses on professional development within a retail pharmacy setting.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage and preventive healthcare.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Support efficient pharmacy workflow and assist the pharmacy manager with inventory management and pharmacy financials.
- Engage customers to resolve issues and provide a positive experience.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems such as Intercom Plus, registers, and automation.
- Process insurance claims and resolve payment rejections.
- Collaborate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions and dosages.
- Assist with staff hiring, training, and performance coaching.
- Participate in community outreach activities to promote pharmacy services.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to the start date.
- Willingness to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Previous experience performing prescription dispensing activities.
- A strong working knowledge of state and federal controlled substance laws.
- Certified Immunizer status, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
