About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the daily operations of the pharmacy while gaining experience in clinical and retail services. You will work closely with the pharmacy manager to ensure efficient workflow, manage inventory, and maintain high standards of patient care. This role involves both technical tasks and direct customer interaction.
What you'll do#
- Provide pharmacy consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, side effects, and drug interactions.
- Perform compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Support pharmacy operations, including opening and closing procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Deliver clinical and wellness services, such as immunizations and flu shots.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff training, performance management, and financial optimization.
- Process insurance claims and coordinate with medical providers to clarify prescriptions.
- Maintain proficiency in pharmacy systems like Intercom Plus and StoreNET.
- Engage customers to resolve issues and promote healthcare services.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer or willingness to become one within 90 days of hire.
