About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work in a retail setting to provide consulting services and preventive healthcare to our customers. You will support the pharmacy manager in daily operations, help maintain inventory, and contribute to the overall financial performance of the pharmacy. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Bennington, Vermont.
What you'll do#
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and providing assistance with products and services.
- Counsel patients on medication usage, potential side effects, drug interactions, and over-the-counter options.
- Perform core pharmacist tasks, including compounding, drug therapy reviews, medication management, and verification.
- Ensure pharmacy operations follow all company policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Process insurance claims and follow up with medical providers to clarify prescriptions, dosages, or allergies.
- Provide clinical services such as immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness programs.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with staff training, hiring, and workflow optimization.
- Build relationships with the local medical community and participate in community outreach activities.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of pharmacy systems and technology.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to your start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Current certification as an immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
