About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail setting. You will learn to navigate pharmacy systems, process prescriptions, and provide care to patients. This role focuses on developing your skills in pharmacy operations and customer service while you complete your pharmacy education.
What you'll do#
- Process prescriptions, including data entry, third-party processing, and filling.
- Assist pharmacists and healthcare providers with patient care services like medication therapy management and patient counseling.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Handle non-clinical telephone calls, including those to physicians.
- Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department's cleanliness and supply levels.
- Register sales at the cash register.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A flexible schedule that includes availability for evening and weekend hours.
