About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will assist the pharmacy team in providing patient care. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain experience in pharmacy operations and customer service. This is a part-time, on-site position based in Iowa City, Iowa.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Perform duties related to entering, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Support pharmacists in delivering patient care services within the state scope of practice.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Handle cash transactions and register sales.
- Manage telephone inquiries that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
- Assist with inventory management, including ordering and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Complete all required training and special assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
