About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Duane Reade, you will learn to provide patient care by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team. You will follow state and federal regulations while gaining experience in pharmacy operations and customer service. This role is designed to help you develop the skills needed for your future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist with pharmacy tasks including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Use pharmacy systems to manage patient information and drug data.
- Support pharmacists with patient care services like medication therapy management, blood pressure checks, and patient counseling.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Handle cash register sales and manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering and unpacking shipments.
- Maintain the pharmacy department by keeping it clean, stocked, and organized.
- Report any prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention.
- Complete all required training and follow the company Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
