About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will learn to provide high-quality patient care by working directly with pharmacists and pharmacy team members. This role focuses on developing your skills in pharmacy operations, customer service, and clinical services while adhering to state and federal regulations. You will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting to prepare for your future as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Perform clinical tasks within your state scope of practice, such as patient counseling, blood pressure monitoring, and medication therapy management.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Handle pharmacy telephone calls and register sales at the point of sale.
- Maintain pharmacy cleanliness and safety, including reporting prescription errors immediately and following asset protection guidelines.
- Complete all required training and stay informed on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
