About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist the pharmacy team with daily operations, patient care, and customer service while adhering to state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription processing, including entering data, third-party billing, filling, and dispensing.
- Support pharmacists in delivering patient care services, such as counseling and health screenings.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Handle inventory management tasks like ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Operate the cash register for sales transactions.
- Manage incoming telephone calls that do not require the direct attention of a pharmacist.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and follow quality improvement protocols.
- Complete required training to stay current on pharmacy practices and company policies.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, which includes evenings and weekends.
