About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work alongside pharmacists and pharmacy team members to support daily operations. This role focuses on learning pharmacy policies, procedures, and customer service standards while gaining hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will assist in delivering patient care and services in accordance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Engage with patients by answering questions, resolving issues, and building relationships.
- Process prescriptions by entering data, handling third-party processing, filling, and dispensing medications.
- Assist pharmacists with patient counseling and health services like blood pressure checks and medication therapy management.
- Use pharmacy systems to access patient and drug information.
- Handle pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and storing shipments.
- Manage cash register transactions and handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department.
- Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Complete all required training and stay updated on healthcare developments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.

- Location: Vestavia, Alabama.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Employment type: Part-time with flexible hours.
- Pay: $19.50 to $31.00 per hour based on skills, education, and experience.
