About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work in a retail pharmacy setting to support clinical services, patient care, and daily operations. This role involves direct interaction with customers and collaboration with the pharmacy team to ensure accurate medication dispensing and efficient workflow.
What you'll do#
- Provide consulting services to customers regarding medication usage, drug interactions, and preventive healthcare.
- Perform clinical and wellness services, including immunizations, flu shots, and diabetes awareness.
- Handle the compounding, dispensation, review, and verification of prescribed medications.
- Assist the pharmacy manager with inventory management, financial performance analysis, and staff training.
- Counsel patients on side effects, over-the-counter products, and medication management.
- Manage pharmacy operations, including opening and closing duties and shift changes.
- Ensure all pharmacy activities comply with regulations and company policies.
- Process insurance claims and resolve payment rejections.
- Maintain knowledge of pharmacy information technology systems.
What you'll need#
- Willingness to obtain a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) degree from an accredited institution prior to the start date.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure from the state Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
- Status as a Certified Immunizer, or a willingness to become certified within 90 days of hire.
