About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will gain hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will work directly under the supervision of a pharmacist to support daily operations, patient care, and prescription processing. This role is designed to help you learn pharmacy policies and service standards while preparing for your future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist in the practice of pharmacy by entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Help pharmacists deliver patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues to provide a positive experience.
- Handle cash register transactions and manage incoming telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist.
- Support inventory management by ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical stock.
- Maintain a clean and orderly pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete all required training and stay current on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
