About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will support the pharmacy team while gaining hands-on experience in a retail setting. You will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to assist with patient care, prescription processing, and daily operations. This role is designed for students currently enrolled in a pharmacy program who want to learn pharmacy policy, procedures, and customer service best practices.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy staff in accordance with state and federal regulations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and process prescriptions.
- Enter, fill, and dispense prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Help with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Register sales at the cash register and handle customer transactions.
- Maintain the appearance and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete all required training and stay informed on pharmacy developments.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of a pharmacist.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
