About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to gain practical experience in a retail pharmacy setting. You will learn to navigate pharmacy systems, assist with patient care, and support the daily operations of the pharmacy department. This role is designed to help you build the skills and knowledge necessary to perform as a future pharmacist while adhering to state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team members with daily tasks.
- Enter, process, fill, and dispense prescriptions using pharmacy systems.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Perform patient counseling and provide health services like medication therapy management.
- Handle telephone calls and assist with inventory management, including ordering and unpacking shipments.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Register sales on the cash register and handle cash transactions.
- Complete required training and stay updated on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
