About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern at Walgreens, you will work under the supervision of a pharmacist to support daily operations. You will learn to assist with patient care, process prescriptions, and handle pharmacy tasks while adhering to state and federal regulations. This role provides hands-on experience in a retail pharmacy setting to help you develop the skills needed for your future career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team with entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and helping resolve issues.
- Support patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, unpacking, and organizing shipments.
- Handle telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's direct attention.
- Operate the cash register for sales and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty.
- Complete required training and stay informed on pharmacy developments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
