About the role#
This is a part-time Pharmacy Intern position for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on-site in Raleigh, North Carolina, learning to support pharmacists and the pharmacy team while gaining experience in a retail setting. This role is paid and focuses on developing your skills in patient care, pharmacy operations, and customer service in accordance with state and federal regulations.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team with daily operations.
- Use pharmacy systems to look up patient and drug information.
- Process, fill, and dispense prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Help with patient counseling and health services like blood pressure checks and medication therapy management.
- Handle telephone calls and register sales at the cash register.
- Manage inventory by ordering, unpacking, and checking shipments of pharmaceuticals.
- Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy department.
- Report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately.
- Complete all required training and special assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A flexible schedule that includes availability for evening and weekend hours.
- Preference is given to candidates with at least six months of retail experience or prior work experience at Walgreens.
- Good math skills are preferred to assist with accurate prescription filling, counting, and measuring.
