About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will learn to assist the pharmacist and pharmacy team in a retail environment. You will gain hands-on experience with pharmacy systems, patient interactions, and operational procedures while working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is designed to help you develop the skills necessary for a career as a pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, including entering, processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions.
- Engage with patients by greeting them, answering questions, and helping resolve issues to ensure a positive experience.
- Support pharmacists in delivering patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within the state scope of practice.
- Handle pharmacy operations, including inventory management, processing sales at the register, and maintaining a clean, organized department.
- Manage telephone inquiries that do not require the direct attention of a pharmacist.
- Complete all required training and stay informed on current healthcare and pharmacy developments.
- Follow the Pharmacy Code of Conduct and report any prescription errors to the pharmacist immediately.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A flexible schedule, including the ability to work evenings and weekends.
