About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will gain hands-on experience by supporting the pharmacy team in a retail setting. You will learn to navigate pharmacy systems, process prescriptions, and provide patient care under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. This role focuses on developing your skills in pharmacy operations and customer service while you complete your pharmacy education.
What you'll do#
- Assist the pharmacist with daily tasks, including processing prescriptions and maintaining pharmacy operations.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient information and manage drug records.
- Engage with customers by greeting them, answering questions, and resolving issues.
- Help with inventory management, including ordering, unpacking, and organizing pharmaceutical shipments.
- Support patient care services, such as medication therapy management and health screenings, within your state scope of practice.
- Process sales at the register and handle phone calls that do not require a pharmacist.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the pharmacy department.
- Immediately report any prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a school of Pharmacy program.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
- A flexible schedule that includes availability for evening and weekend hours.
